Red Chile Salsa
  • 1 T olive oil
  • 1 2 oz package dried ancho chiles
  • 3 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 2 T honey
  • 1/4 t ground cinnamon
  • 1 C water
  1. tear chile pods open discarding the stems and seeds
  2. heat oil in heavy medium skillet over medium heat
  3. add chiles to skillet
  4. fry until fragrant stirring often, about 2 minutes
  5. transfer to blender
  6. heat same skillet over medium-high heat
  7. add garlic and saute until until golden, about 1 minute
  8. transfer to blender
  9. add water, honey, and cinnamon to blender
  10. blend until smooth adding more water if too thick
  11. transfer to bowl
  12. season with salt
  13. refrigerate until ready to use
  • Serve at room temperature
