- 1 T olive oil
- 1 2 oz package dried ancho chiles
- 3 cloves garlic, sliced
- 2 T honey
- 1/4 t ground cinnamon
- 1 C water
| - tear chile pods open discarding the stems and seeds
- heat oil in heavy medium skillet over medium heat
- add chiles to skillet
- fry until fragrant stirring often, about 2 minutes
- transfer to blender
- heat same skillet over medium-high heat
- add garlic and saute until until golden, about 1 minute
- transfer to blender
- add water, honey, and cinnamon to blender
- blend until smooth adding more water if too thick
- transfer to bowl
- season with salt
- refrigerate until ready to use
- Serve at room temperature
